The Death of Kasy Linn
“It is so sad,” said the little girl in a muddy, pale pink lace dress. She rubbed at the stains… though she knew they would never come away. The world around the girl was gray and cold.
“What the hell! Why am I here again?” A young woman shouted. She was wearing a hot pink tank top and black boy shorts, shivering as mist swirled around her. Her long hair, tied messily at the top of her head, was dark purple, shot through with ocean blue. “This dream is so fucked up, I mean seriously! It’s frucking cold!”
"It's so sad." She looked up. "It will be today, the seventh day. Tell them my name is Avani." She glanced down to run a finger across another stain, then looked back at the young woman, and turned and walked away.
"Wait, tell who? And you said something other then 'it's so sad'? What? ...what?" The mist grew thicker and thicker, swirling around her, and she gasped and shut her eyes.
"Kasy. Kasy. Kasy." Her forehead was being poked repeatedly. "Wake up. Wake up. Wake up." Kasy shot up, and rammed heads with her one and only little brother.
"AHHHHHH," they groaned together, each turning away to cradle their heads. "Geez, Russ. Do you have to do that every morning? God. At least Rena moves when she wakes me up." She shoved her brother off her bed, then pulled her legs from beneath her blankets.
"Rena, Evony, and Ivory are eating breakfast. Samara is taking us to school today." Russ said as he took out his sisters makeup and handed her her toothbrush and toothpaste. "You should do that in the shower."
"Shiiiit. Samara doesn't wait!" She grabbed her things from Russ and ran out output the room, heading into the bathroom. Russ grabbed her morning face wash and followed her, holding the bottle out toward the door at the end of the hall for a few seconds before Kasy popped out. "Thank you," and closed the door again.Russ wasn't to the stairs yet before he heard the water turn on.
"Kasy's up." he said as he reached the kitchen.
"Thank the freaking dawn. She sleeps for forever!" Samara said loudly.
