Kelsi in Chains
She made a face and looked up, tipping the book back. She shrugged, ruffled her fiery red hair back, annoyed that she didn’t immediantly understand. She shook her head and repositioned the book to read again. “Still on page ten of ‘Ethics; the Essential Writings’?” a young man in shorts and a black tank top plopped on the bench next to her. He began to rub the peach fuzz covering his head. “My hair is growing back.”
“I can see that. Where’ve you been the last month? And, no. I’m reading the History of Philosopy.” She turned back to her book.
“Dealing with stuff. Can we go to the tower? It’s important Kelsi.” He sighed. “It’s about my dad, and my mom…. And stuffs…..” He tugged the small length of chain that hung from one of his ear peircings.
“Kelsi tugged a scrap of lace off her wrist and placed inas a page marker in her book. She bent and dropped the books in a small black messenger bag. “School hasn’t even started yet,” she sighed, looking at the students milling around in front of the high school campus. She stood and started walking a way from the school. “Let’s go Chains.”
TIME SKIP
“Hi mom.” Kelsi said shortly as she came through the kitchen door and kept walking. Her mothers head shot up when they appeared.
“Hey Mrs. Aragona. How are you?”
‘I am fine Daniel. Or am I suppose to call you… ‘Chains’ as well?” he grinned. Kelsi and her mother looked almost exactly alike, aside from the few wrinkles and the rey hairs that were died practically before they were noticable. And the fact that Kelsi’s mother had the driest sense of humor, if it could be considered that, that Daniel had ever known.
“I am whatever you want me to be Mrs. A.” Nevermind the fact that she thought he wasn’t good enough to work for she and her family, and she hated her daughter ‘assioating with the riff-raff’. Riff-raff being him.
She smiled coldly. “Of course. Isn’t Kelsi suppose to be in school?” she glanced at the hall that Kelsi had disappeared into.
“DANNY!! Come ON!”
He grinned. “Later Mrs. A.”
